Harry

yea I watched your lap and saw you twitching there. I was really amazed that you not only got a decend time but actually a damn fast one... great job!

I had a bloody freeze. what a waste of time!

sorry to Rainer. wanted to let you pass on the straight. I hope your spin was not *directly* caused by me...

I actually prepared quite a bit for the race but didn't even think of a strategy and automatically filled the car for 1 stop *brain OFF*
later in the race I was actually on the tail of Kelvin (how did that happen? *scratch*) but then I damaged the car after my pit stop as I lost the feel to drive the Honda with full fuel load.
anyway, I had way too much fuel on board. *adjust* *wrench* *drain*

due to non-competitive pace it was all in all a bit of a boring race for me, too. the enemy was within (as usual....), so to speak.

but
at least I drove the "fastest lap".

grats podium & finishers.
thanks for organizing.
see you

I looked at the 2010 archive and calculated that 2 stops might be possible , I managed to pass Harry and David in the early laps and also Carsten ..... but , he was not going to let me go easily and we changed places a few times until he sadly got disco'd.
It felt quite lonely for a while after his departure and I really needed to get my head into gear to make my strategy work, damn problem for me was I needed @ 6 or 7 secs on David for the 1st stop .... I think it was 4.5 in the end. Anyhow I got going again and I was waiting for Harry and David to do their 1 stop..... eventually they did and I had 20 laps or so to build up as much time as I could.
I'm not sure, but , I think I had 9 secs at my 2nd stop and I was pulling out of the pits when David flew by .... I was pretty much up to speed when Harry came along and I think he damaged his car slightly allowing me to pass him without too much fight. I then tried with 38 laps remaining to catch David .... at first he pulled away then I think I was slowly gaining ... then .... ****ing hell I'm disco'd..
I truly don't think I could have got much nearer to David and a big Grats for that drive
Also a stunning pole from Harry and a couple of brave Honda's out there too, ooooh I nearly took one

Thanks again for some great racing guys

Regards Col

First of all, a big thanks to all the die hard oval racers. It's amazing how strong and competitive all oval-cup contenders have grown over the season . Just a brief look at the stats: After 5 Oval-Cup races in 2013 we have 4 different race winners , this makes me very happy .
Nevertheless only 8 starters on this big oval, …that hurts.

Well, my race was pretty exciting; unfortunately I made some big strategic mistakes, my preparations for this event ran short and somehow I thought to race this event in a Honda might be a quite challenge . So in the closing stages of registration I took a gamble and choose the Honda (instead of the proven Lotus from 2010).

Race: After the fist few laps, I recognized, that sooner or later I'm going to be a sitting duck in this big and heavy Japanese machinery . Rainer in his super fast and agile Brabham was closing in quickly. But I was in much deeper water as I took a look at my fuel tank . Instead of 58 laps of fuel (which should be good for a 1 stop strategy) I filled up for 48 laps , that nailed me down to a 2 stop strategy. Over the run, the Honda got more and more tail happy entering (more than I'd expected) and lost too much momentum in the turns so Rainer caught me on lap 20 and I decided to give up P5, and race against Fabian (the other Honda with a 1 stop strategy) for P6.
During the race some very strange things happened:
1st: Carsten suddenly dissapeared after only 11 laps - it's a shame that a disco strikes you in the Oval-Cup for the 2nd time, mate.
2nd: Somehow Fabian skipped a lap! Guess there was a huge lag, that caused some kind of a timing & scoring issue.
3rd: Cole who was the fastest guy out there suffered also a disconnect - 2 stop strategy!! This was a bold move to pull this strategy off. Looks like it might have worked. Terrific!
4th: Fabian also suffered a disconnect. The 3rd car on this evening. Ouch that hurts .

GRATS David! Your 2nd win after Dega 2012. Awesome performance, buddy.

Hi all,

My racesetup is rather loose in the first laps, so I told myself not to spin in the first laps of the race.

Quali. I was satisfied with my 2nd place on the grid, behind Harry, who drives well at any track.

Race. Soon after the start Carsten and Colin overtook me. I was cornering in the slipstream of Col's Lotus, when suddenly my car moved to the right. I hit the rail. GPLRA says "minor problems with right front suspension" but I thought is was more severe. The next lap I hit the rail again. The next two laps I had to lift at the exit of turn 4. What a struggle. I'd rather expected spinning off. In lap 7 I was 3 seconds behind the leaders. I thought I lost the race.

Carsten had a disco in lap 12. I wished to compare our 2013-laptimes afterwards, but that is impossible now. After I overtook Harry in lap 21, Col was about 5s in front, leading. He had a fast pace. I pushed very hard and took risks, hitting the gas early. This went well, but I only won a few tenths during this chase. That was racing at my max. I thought, 2nd place for me, just as in the quali. In lap 42 Col made a pitstop and I passed him, which was unexpected and exciting. I suddenly saw I had a chance, because he needed another pitstop, which costs about 14s.

I pitted in lap 60 and got going again ahead of Col. After Harry's pitstop, I was in the lead. (There was a hiccup in the connection in lap 62. When I opened my 62th lap in GPLRA, it said 59.745s should be 1m00.228s.) Col overtook me in lap 68 and I hit the rail. My RF suspension was damaged again. In the next 14 laps or so, he drove away from me. After his 2nd pitstop, he was about 8s behind me. From then on we were equal in fuel. In the next 17 laps, he gained about 1.5s. With 20 laps to go, I thought I was going to make it, but then Col had a disco in lap 99. I supposed he had a collision, which wasn't true. In lap 96 I tried to lap Rainer and we almost collided. Fortunately the incident didn't cost him a place in the end. Harry had rear wheel mechanical problems, which are nasty, so I finished 1st. Who would have won without the 3 discos?

Hotlaps. Harry, I've watched the replay of your hotlap. You steer more than I at the corner's entrance and you're on the gas earlier.

Hallo
