Hello

Hi EOLC people,

My name is Luis Babboni, Im from Argentina and Im playing GPL since 2007.
Sorry but I cant read nothing at all of german.
And just a little of english.

Actually not, but at my beginings I used to join Monza in EOLC server as may be the mostly GPLers did at theire beginings.

I arrived here now cause Im looking for a 67s champ using 60fps and in SRMZ someone said me that in 2011 you are planing to do something like this.

Have you a calendar made yet?
In what days and at what time do you usually race?

Thanks!

Hello Luis,

great to have you here! Good Leo Grandis is the culprit, huh? ^^

Last year, we raced on Thursdays and Sundays at 19:45, which for example corresponds to 15:45 in Buenos Aires. We have Daylight Saving Time in summers, btw.

The new calendar will be made public soon.
Our first races will take place on January 13 and 16.

Regards,
Carsten

Hi Luis, nice to hear from you!

Yes, 60fps is a good choice!

You are welcome and the new calendar has appeared today!

Thanks Olaf; Jens and Carsten!

Carsten, sorry but I cant understood thats about Leo Grandis
I remember you, specially actually, cause if is as the GPLRank said, you use H stick and clutch, Im right? And since a month ago I begun to learn to do the same with GTs. Still paddles and two pedals to be less slower on the 67s.
You race twice a week?
On January I´ll can race on thursdays, but not since February.
On Sundays, some weekends I´ll can and some not.

Jens, is a fact that you will use 60fps for races, or just an idea?

Olaf, of course I remember you from F1Legends.... but mostly from behind

Nice!
So I´ll want to be in Kyalami.
To be in "Cup" or in "Challenge" is my option?

EDIT: mmmm.... I saw the door open and I signed in
With Brabham cause I still do not have a "green" there with it.

Hey Luis,

I only wanted to point out that Leo did a great job when he started that thread at SRMZ: http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=6461
It's the reason you're here, I suppose

Yup, Heel'n'Toe has been my style for three years now - and we're not alone here! There are about 5 other drivers in EOLC doing it this way. Most people still do left-foot brake, though

As far as the calendar is concerned: We very often race twice a week, but not every week. The picture can tell you:

"Ostern" is simply Easter (La Pascua). We don't race at that date

Carsten

Hello Christian!

Carsten, I noted just right now that this post was opened by LeoG... but it seems that he is not on the 60fps side
Nevertheless, its push me more on the 60fps side.

Mmmm.... Im not did hell and toe yet.
Sometimes I need to downshift two gears with just one move to avoid that RPMs are not enough to just downshift one.
But as I said, for the moment is just to learn. I choice some cars to use 3 pedals and the H (by the way, I use GPLShifter with clutch needed, you?) to learn and just 2 pedals and paddles with others to be less slower (indeed, mostly to be more consistenly cause I miss gears still so oftenly).

Welll, I ´ll try to be in "Pro" when I´ll can (I prefer thats no shift+R rule) or "Challenge" if not.

My goal is to reach the 77 "greens" in the GPLRank (I have near 40 right now) and by the way, enjoy the 60fps!

Hello Luis,

Welcome to the EOLC !

Enjoy the races and have fun!

(From this season on I will use my left foot for engaging the clutch only So you will find me somewhere at the bottom of the rankings, or rather behind dunes, fences or in trees etc. )

best

Jörg

Well, in 2008 I started with skipping the gears on downshifts, e.g. going from 5th to 2nd at once. Getting the car stopped was difficult enough, so I couldn't take care of downshifting properly. About half a year later I shifted down gear by gear, which also helped braking stability, as the rear wasn't as likely to lock up anymore.
Yes, GPLShift is set up to force me to use the clutch. At first I set the "clutch threshold" (as it is called) to 5, but later set it to 9. So I need to press the clutch down to 90% to change the gear.

Do you need any specific differential and/or brake balance values to make the car drivable for you? I do: 58% brake balance and 60/30/3 for most tracks. In the left-foot braking days I was using 52% and something in the 45/60/1-30/85/1 range. More clutches and lower coastside values helped me.

Oh, I almost forgot: On ovals on which I don't need to change gears (there are some of them) I left-foot brake.

Good luck Luis and Joerg on your HnT adventure!

Regards,
Carsten

Tomorrow is the 1st race at Kyalami, isn it?
I tried yesterday in the "Pro short" EOLC server and the 60fps works so nice.
I still cant reach the "green" (1:20.86) with my BT (1:21.15 my old PB and 1:21.84 my yesterday PB).

So tomorrow at 18:45GMT I will be in wich chat room at VROC?

Any special rule about the start or just common sense?

"...As the field advances to turn 1, the drivers should form a queue, one behind another, or drive in a manner that allows another car beside yours if necessary...."

This "should form a queue" it means that are not allowed overtakes?

Thanks.

Hey Luis,

you need to add a chatroom in Vroc and name it "eolc".

Common sense is very welcomed
Of course you are allowed to overtake, the english translation might be a bit misleading there.
Just make sure not to do any surprising line changes with other cars in the blind spot or super late braking (we call it the Brechstange )

Hope you enjoy your debut-race!

Hello Luis,

in EOLC is no generell change-lane-ban like in F1Legends.
Overtaking is allowed at the start finish line.
But if you chance the lane be very cautious. If you change the lane and something happens you get a penalty and must start in the next race from without qualify from the last row and you get a yellow card.

Me meet us in chatroom "eolc" like Yannick said. Before the start of the Server we change to the chatrooms "grid_a" (for Grid A) or "grid_b" (for Grid B)...and so on.
It's better to create this rooms before the race.
At about 7 p.m. you find a thread in Raceforum named "GRID PRO CUP KYALAMI". There you can see at which Grid you must start.

Meeting point at eolc chatroom is at half past 7

Kindest regards.

Olaf

Hello Jörg,

Thanks for the welcome and congrats for your desition of use your cluthc. Im afraind Im a cow and still do not use it with 67s. I keep it for others mods. I keep the 67s to be as fast as I can (no too much indeed) and the others to enjoy a little more.

Hello Adnan!

So bad driver I am that you remember me for just so few races?!

I love the Carlos Reutemann F1 years so looking for race in those cars when I have my first broad band connection, I found GPL in 2007 (rFactor 79 mod and iRacing still did not exists in those days).
But I fall in love with GPL so I just race a few races in rFactor 79 mod when it appears.
Actually iRacing fill my wishes but I just begun to race with the Lotus 79 there.... and I need a lot of time to reach the average level.

All so nice... but as we say here in Argentina:
"To the first love (GPL in my case) we always come back".
