Carsten
Sorry for stupid question, but which version of GEM allows that ? I downloaded this one (2.5.32) and there is no such a option.

Hi Radek,
it surely is not a stupid question. I wonder: When did you download your version? The 60 FPS patch was added to the GEM+ package later, during last summer I guess. However, they didn't change the version number. So I was kind of surprised to see that patch included when I was downloading GEM+ some weeks ago. They haven't removed it in the meantime, have they?
In your case, adding the patch manually will work as well: http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=4584 (mirror: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=319UKOGQ)
Please do not change your core.ini file, in spite of the readme telling you so
Regards,
Carsten

Hi Radek,
I've downloaded it again and the file size has changed from 10.053.288 Bytes (November 24) to 10.004.822 Bytes (today).
Sorry, it's hard to keep track of the changes they make. Too bad there is no such thing as a changelog. As far as I know, that is.

Carsten

Hi
I joined two online test races on Sunday, at Monza10k and Monza. I had no problems with 60 fps.
At 60 fps Monza10k (online, full grid) and 36 fps Monza10k (offline, full AI grid) the fps is low at start/finish. This is not caused by the 60 fps. At Monza I reached 60 fps at some places. Minimum was about 40 fps at the start. I'm satisfied with that.
Hi Konni,
I had this problem too. You can change the speed of the AI in gpl_ai.ini, 0.00 is default, 0.95 is fast, 1.05 is slow. 0.95 yields AI laptimes from 1m26s to 1m29s at Monza.
npt_override = 0.95 ; set to > 0.0 to override normalized player time
I had to slow down the acceleration of the AI in gpl_ai.ini from 1.00 (default) to 1.45 to get realistic AI races with 60 fps.
hype_dlong_accel_scaling = 1.450000
These two lines apply to all tracks. To increase the AI speed per track, increase this number in the track.ini of a specific track:
dlong_speed_adj_coeff = 1.016000
Regards,
David

Hello David,
as far as Monza10k is concerned, it is known for being 'hungry'. Have you tried some FPS fixes? http://www.srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=658
Getting rid of the people in pitlane is said to give 1 FPS: Link

I found it irritating that M10k graphics are worse than Monza yet Monza has better FPS...so I am updating M10k to match Monza as much as possible (pits, grandstands, bridge, etc). It will take a while to complete, partly because a bug needs fixing in 3DSimED (in progress). But FPS will be like Monza when finished.
Edit....thx Jens for reminder of 60fps effects: improved collision detection and FFB response. Ironically, it explains why FPS will likely DECREASE due to CPU doing more server, position & FFB updates. I guess I need to hit more people online to get the full benefit of 60fps!
Cheers,
Kevin

Thanks David,
i'll try.
My experiences testing 60fps/v1.3 at Monza10k (Monza unfortunately I could'nt start):
Online-Race: 16 fps (along the pits) - 52 fps.
Online-Test (driving alone): 26 - 54 fps.
Offline-Test: 28 - 60 fps.
Hardware: P4, 2,6 GHz, GC NVidiaGeForce FX5200 AGP
Connection: 2048/256 (nominally), 840/215 infact)

Hi zusammen,

10 fps extra at monza10k
Thanks for the link, Carsten.
I followed Carsten's link and downloaded people.zip. This added 2 fps. Then I made a bat file to get rid of almost every 3do file. This added 10 fps, which is good enough for me. It will overwrite 3do files in the monza10k folder if you have any!
The file is found here: monza10kempty3dofiles.zip
Unzip and run in the monza10k folder (first use people.zip to make it work).
monza10kempty3dofiles.bat makes more than 140 3do objects invisible. Still visible are horiz.3do (horizon), monza10.3do (roads), starter.3do, cone.3do (cones on s/f line), etc. Make an object visible again by removing a 3do from the monza10k folder, to get the desired scenery.
monza10kempty3dofiles.bat works like this:
copy pit_cpl1.3do adprmott.3do
copy pit_cpl1.3do adsmstp1.3do
etc.
I hope this will help someone with huge fps troubles like me.
Regards,
David

mal sehen.

i also remember that just a simple road beside the track at ASCARI is overwritten with the 3do file and gains also 20fps ant ascari.
monza 10k is strange,
does anybody know HOW TO REMOVE the PIT BOXES, and all thos buildings? that is where my frames drop!

Hi Jens,
The 7 building files of the front straight are paddock.3do and front01.3do to front06.3do.
I removed all buildings and many other objects this way:
(Backup 3do files of the monza10k folder)
Unzip people.zip in the monza10k folder
Unzip monza10kempty3dofiles.zip there (new version with tunnel road)
Run monza10kempty3dofiles.bat
You can view and edit monza10kempty3dofiles.bat in a text editor. All 3do filenames of monza10k are stored in it. Lines starting with "rem" do nothing.
Zitat: Original von Jens Kraft
i also remember that just a simple road beside the track at ASCARI is overwritten with the 3do file and gains also 20fps ant ascari.
I hit something at the location of ascari.3do without seeing it. I set it to visible, in spite of the frame drop.
[edit: Ascari does drop my frames. My last remark is not clear. It should read: I have hit something at the location of ascari.3do without seeing it. After this crash I set it to visible, although there's a frame drop when ascari.3do is visible. ]

David

http://gpl-geli.de/60fps.html

Konni
