REV LIMIT ???

Hi All,

Throughout my short GPL career, I've always crashed and had to Shift-R long before I'd run far enough to make an engine blow.
It's now becoming a relevant problem, I'm glad to say, but the question is - what are the safe rev limits for the various cars ?

I very rarely "Speedshift" but I don't know whether, in the Ferarri for example, if to rev to 11000 is ok or if I should change at 10500 ?

(My copy of GPL was bought from "Sold out Software" and came without documentation. - does the original documentation specify these limits ?)

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Glenn,
I'm not sure about the rev limits for each car.

BTW, here's a link to download the manual:

Hi Glenn,
I found something on an Italian guide to setup dated 2004.

Safe limits, found after practical tests:

Bra 8.600 rpm
BRM 10.700
Coo 9.800
Eag 10.000
Fer 10.700
Hon 11.100
Lot 8.900

Quite risky limits:

Bra 8.800 rpm
BRM 11.100
Coo 10.000
Eag 10.300
Fer 10.900
Hon 11.300
Lot 9.100

Most important should be the water temperature:

INT mode should be safe below 110°C
PRO mode should be safe below 105°C

Maybe some gurus here have other infos.

Bye

Thanks Fabio,

That's all I needed to know. Sorry you had such rotten luck last night, I had a really fun race until the dreaded "silence".

ciao,

Glenn

Oooops... a.m. link works now.

About oil temperature, there isn't any indication for different cars, I only found this general advise, sorry...

If someone knows Italian language here's the link:

just for info: the oil temp is either "fully"! wrong or for one special car. but there is no average temp. each car has its own. brabham has somewhat 80C and never gets destructed, eagle below 100, honda below 123 and so on.

I don't know ... most of my engine-failures are in low revs (exept during wrong shifting).
Try to shift 2nd gear and go full trottle (high revs, but not as high as during shifting). You will go probably very far.

Honda is way easier to blow with high revs than Brabham.. there are some varying GPL damage settings, and oil temp should be kept below certain amounts.

Speedshifting kept to a minimum/not at all..

0 speedshifts and INT mode, I'd expect to use say full brabham revs, and just save only a little Honda. But in PRO mode, must be much more careful with Honda, and only a little more cautious with Brabham. I think the most critical factor will be firstly speedshifts and then revs/oil temps after.
