soundcard:

do NOT buy any cheap soundcard.
Do NOT buy audigy SE.

it has to be audigy 2 SE/ZE. ask Christian Kolhofer. HE has no problems.

the very late models after audigy (forget the name) are also not perfect.

BEst is the very old sound card Creative labs soundblaster 16 / pro. it was designed for it. mine is from 1999. IT IS EXCELLENT ! (only under winME ... / 98)

BEcause XP drivers fark it all up!

HiDiHO

That was a very good idee Jens!
I thought I had only old ISA cards here, but I was wrong I have 2 PCI.
I have a Soundblaster 1024 live, but although it sounds bettter as the onboard ALC1200, its not good enough.
Then I took the very old (1999 CMI 8738/C3DX ) soundcard out of my win98 ahtlon800
and .......... perfect
Thanks Jens.

But now I feel sorry for you Danilo
That is no answer to your problem.
Maybe somebody you know have a old PC where from you can borrow the soundcard from?

But first, try your creative lab 16 / pro !
XP reccogniced my old card to, trying won't hurt.

Good luck, and again sorry

Hi Danilo,

I can only recommend buying a SB X-Fi Gamer (not X-Fi Audio!) card. It sells for about 50-60 Euros. I had exactly the same problems as you had with that Realtek crap they put on those motherboards these days , tried all sorts of different things (like turning down audio hardware acceleration) recommended on RSC forums but in the end, the only thing that helped was buying above mentioned audio card.

I don't race much these days, but I still try going around in circles from time to time , and the sound is perfect.

Good looking PC

The microfoon from my old soundcard didn't work.
So today I whent to the store to buy a sb x-fi gamer.
There I saw €.95,- on the box.
But next to it I see a Sweeks 4.1 for €.9
I took a gamble and take the sweeks, and I am a lucky basterd (thanks Jens) it works!

I am not telling you this to feel sorry for buying the SB X-fi Danilo, its a very good soundcard.
I only whant to give information on what works with GPL and not

My PC: intel core duo , nvidia GTX260
