Auf dieses Rennen rückblickend kann ich eigentlich nur eins sagen:
Quali lief gut, PB, Platz 6. Start war auch ok, sogar auf 5 gekommen, dann in L2 oder so gedreht, danach war das Auto verbogen. Geht schon, dachte ich mir, wollte aber nicht so. Nur noch Untersteuern, heiße Reifen vorne, kalte hinten, bin mir vorgekommen wie mit einem schlechten Oval-Setup. In T2 aufgrund des Untersteuerns mind. 5 mal raus, die Moss hätte ich rückwärts schneller hinbekommen, Überholen nach Crashs war fast unmöglich, da der Ferrari an der einzigen Überholmöglichkeit im Eagle-Windschatten langsamer ist als der Eagle, von 6 auf 12 zurückgefallen, ganze zwei Runden schneller als 1:21......usw.....
Fazit: Es kann nur besser werden im nächsten Rennen!

After (very disappointing) race in South African Kyalami, the Grand Prix circus moved to Canada. Extremly demanding circuit of Mosport, one of "Real driver's tracks", always offers one of the most exciting races of the whole season. This year's race was no exception.
As I was comming to Canada, me and Commendatore still felt blue because of the bitter disappointment in Kyalami. It was clear, that I must do better this time. Much beter... However, the first tests were not very good. I wasn't fast enough. But at least, I could drive constantly without many mistakes.
Quali: As always, my qualifying performance was poor. 14th position, more than 0,5s slower than my PB was simply bad.
Start: I want to thank everybody for very safe, careful and wise driving in the first lap. No stupid attacks, no risking. Great job! Unfortunatelly, lap 2 saw a crash... Well, I saw a crash. Frits Hermes, who was right in front of me, had a spin in Moss. I managed to avoid the collision, but Mick Chapman wasn't so lucky and he hit me from behind. After that I found myself on the very last position However, I don't feel bitter, Moss is one of the most difficult sections in the whole calender, shit happens. Looking forward to more duels, Frits
Two guys in front of me did mistakes, so I was suddenly on P16 and I had to pass Uli Hofmann. Uli was a bit slower and I couldn't get over. But in lap 8 I was the lucky one. I managed to pass two cars at the same time. Yes, Moss again
After 10 laps ride behind superbly driving Frits I passed him at the end of the back straight. Even if Ferrari isn't the fastest in the straight line, it's still much faster than Cooper.
Lap 22 - Seb Fischer makes mistake, lap 24 - Peter Stadtmüller makes mistake, too. Only one lap later, I won another two positions. I was sixth!!!
However, the way how I "won" it was not very pleasant. Well, Peter's and Seb's mistakes were normal, but collision between Chris and Michal was not all right. Michal just lost control over his car and literally shoot Chris out of the track. Later during the race I met Michal "personally"...
It was clear, that Michal was much faster than me. No question about it. But IMO, he was really too agressive. I was afraid, that he'll hit me from behind during braking. But Michal did a mistake in T2 and I could go on on my (from my point of view) fantastic sixth
Only five laps later, Michal was right behind me again. It was clear, that I couldn't hold him behind. Unfortunatelly, I gave him my position in very bad way - spin in T2.
Lap 39 - tragedy. I did it again! I lost it in T2! As a result of this, Chris Kolnhofer took my seventh. During the last 6 laps I pushed as hard as possible, I even did my PB in the very last lap, but it was not enough.
All in all, I'm quite satisfied. The only thing which makes me sad is loosing P7 only 6 laps before the chequered flag, but that's it. As I rolled the car into the pits, "The Old Man" was already standing there. "Good job, you are the fastest one of our team. I'm expecting more results like this".
Slowly, I'm getting used to my new team and car and I'm hoping to some future successes.

So
Quali war gut: hab pb um 2/100 verbessert, nach vorn müsst ich 2/10 besser werden damit sich war tut.
Hinter mir wars schon enger.
Den Start vermassle ich hier immer, hab ein Platz an Seb verloren , welcher vor mir aber bald von der Strecke geeiert ist.
Ich hatte den Anschluss an Marco fast verloren , nach hinten hatte ich auch viel Platz auf Peter der mir den Rücken freihielt :-)
Doch da fuhr aufeinmal HBK neben der Strecke und war dann hinter mir, dem ich nur schwachen Widerstand bot oder bieten konnte.
Ich dachte mir ich lass ihn lieber früh als spät auf Marco los welchen ich kaum einholen konnte.
HBK hing bald Marco im Heck, da ists dann auch passiert und ich sah Marco auf dem Beschleunigungsstreifen neben der Ideallinie.
Kurz danach sah ich auch Yilmaxx am Waldrand parken.
Jetzt war ich 3.
Doch hinter mir wurde Marcos Kühlergill immer größer.
Bald hing er mir im Getriebe als ich bei meiner Suche nach dem Bremspunkt auf dem Sprughügel Zeit verlor. Durch eine unglückliche Berührung hat es ihn weggesaupt. ( schade )
Da war ich wieder mit im Abstand von 5 sek nach vorn und hinten keinem Gegner, Zeit einen Rythmus zu finden und vom Podest zu träumen .
Doch dann kam es ; mein dauerhaftes Herunterschalten auf dem Sprunghügel hat bewirkt dass sich in der Kurbelwelle meines Eagles langsam ein Riss ausbreitete . Als ich in der 31 Runde zwischen der Rechts nach dem Sprung und der darauffolgenden Links leicht Gas geben wollte flog sie nach hinten raus.
Ich hab erst mal gar nicht kapiert was los ist weil mir sonst nur beim Schalten selbst was kaputt geht. => Shift R
Yilmaxx ging vorbei und mit dem schweren Wagen musste ich auch Marco passieren lassen.
Da war es wieder, nach vorn nur Leute die mir davon fahren, nach hinten 10 sek Luft und noch 15 Runden zu fahren.
Meine Firewall Peter war anscheined durchbrochen da sich Michael nun von hinten näherte.
Durch den schweren Wagen im Nachteil und Angst eines weiteren Motorplatzers sah ich ihn sogar in den letzten beiden Runden im Rückspiegel. Er hat aber noch einen Fehler gemacht und so war mein 5. Platz sicher.
Damit kann ich eigentlich zufrieden sein vom Speed her war ich 6. Quali 5. Rennen auch 5.
Mein Traum vom Podest war aber geplatzt

A race of mixed feelings...
Qual went very well, bettered my pb by 2 tenths and got 7th, which was better than expected. As hard as overtaking is on Mosport, this grid position was going to help me alot....or so I thought.
Talu in front of me has a bad start and I have to lift. With nowhere to go I lose a position to a Lotus (Huerzeler) that comes up on the inside.
Lap 2 Fisher spins in Moss 5A and is caught by Talu. The two cars are stationary when I gently go on the outside, unfortunately Huerzeler who went on the inside partly on the grass slides across the track and pushes me out of the tack. Instead of gaining some spots I fall down from 8th to 10th.
After this the rest of the bad luck is my own fault. I drive quicker than the cars in front of me, but versus the power of Lotus and Eagle I don't have a chance to overtake. Losing time behind slower cars I am also an easy target for more powerful cars behind. Without the chance to build a gap, a mistake out of Moss is all it takes..
I am also driving extra careful because of my two yellows from Kyalami, so I pull out of brake-duells into T7. The first time Fisher overtakes me I lift very early, and then land with locked wheels and spin out like a newbie....
I lose control out of Moss two times and lose 3 positions because of this. Fortunately for me I'm not the only one with problems keepin the car straight, and when I don't spin I'm driving fast. The last 8 laps I have some putting pressure on Stadtmüller, without any results however, i finish a quarter of a second behind.
10 place, and driving that hopefully will result in one of my yellows to be removed, is quite satisfactory after the horrible results at Kya. However, I can't help being a bit disappointed...had I avoided only one of my 3 spins, I would have gained several positions...as high as 5th would have been possible with the racepace I had

Mosport war nie meine Lieblingsstrecke, ist es nicht und wird es nie sein. Daher war die Motivation nahe null, das Rennsetup wirklich zu testen. Im Rennen stellte sich dann heraus, daß es insbesondere hinter dem Sprunghügel viel zu weich war, der Wagen war kaum zu kontrollieren. Das Ergebnis war ein Abflug ca. Rennmitte, incl. dem Verlust von 3 Positionen (die bereits erwähnte Kolonne )
Danach lief es auch nicht wirklich besser, ein Rennen zum Vergessen. Ich freue mich schon auf Hockenheim und Monza, das liegt dem Eagle besser.
