This might change your strategy, Lotus won almost every race

Ferrari is more or less faster than Brabham everywhere. The margin is less on technical tracks like Monaco or Zandvoort, but on faster tracks the margin is quite big. Even in Silverstone Brabham has a little chance. I'd prefer the old chassis points.

I'd rather consider banning Lotus (and Eagle?) for top drivers.

Hi Radek and all,

I personally wouldn't ban a car for fast drivers, because maybe someone really likes to do some races in Eagle or Lotus. The extra point for Ferrari, to me, is a bit like simulating a good year for that car. Shall we set Brabham to 2.5 points to compensate this a little?

Then we get:
basepoints: 100-99-98-97-96-95-94-93-92-91-etc.
chassispoints: 4 4 3 2.5 2 0 0

(Which we can adjust to get rid of the halves: basepoints: 100-98-96-94-92-90-88-86-84-82-etc. chassispoints: 8 8 6 5 4 0 0)

in my opinion:

the idea of reduction of the chassis points from 2014 to 2015 was right, but the recuction level was too high.

we saw a lot of Lotus & Eagle in 2015

24x EAGLE
22x LOTUS
20x Brabham
19x FERRARI
9x HONDA
9x BRM
7x COOPER

Maybe we can try an other distribution of chassis points in 2016:

BRM 6
Honda 4
Cooper 4
Brab 2
Ferrari 2
Eagle 0
Lotus 0

...in the end the number of participants (NOP) are deciding about the worth of the defined chassis points.
In 2014 we probably had the same number of NOP as in 2015, but BRM-driving was much much more worth as in 2015, maybe too much.
But i think, the reduction of chassis points for 2015 was too high.

Thanks for responding

Let's move in the direction that Radek and Chris are pointing out: more room for medium and slow cars I think 6 points for the BRM is too much, because when someone wins the race in the Lotus, he gets 100 points, which is one point less than someone gets who finishes 6th in the BRM (95+6). Finishing 6th in the BRM is in my opinion much easier to do.

Therefore this is my newest suggestion for 2016:

BRM 5
Honda 4
Cooper 4
Brab 3
Ferrari 2
Eagle 0
Lotus 0

This means one point more for every car, except Eagle and Lotus. Do you like it? It's hard to reach all goals with a scoring system

Regards,
David

I was thinking about points last two race quite a lot because I fought about 3rd place with Chris. I just didn't want to take Lotus, which would have been probably the best option. I tested more cars and there was no simple choice. I found the chassis points very well balanced last year. If I made any change, then I would give Lotus -1 or -0.5 point. Eagle is definitely slower than Lotus everywhere except Spa. Lotus has a similar usable (not peak) power but it's lighter and faster in corners. Eagle has just lower drag and thus the highest top speed. Ferrari is very stable and fast in cornes and can keep up with Eagle up to 250kph. With 2 points it will be the best car to get points, maybe still together with Lotus.
Anyway, if the top drivers took worse cars and I mean the three slowest car, the field would be much more compact and more fun for everybody, regardless of points.
But do as you wish and I will just choose the car

omg it takes me so long to write anything , a very good compromise (the same as I wrote just Eagle has -1 point)

Basepoints: 100-99-98-etc.

Chassispoints:

BRM 5
Honda 4
Cooper 4
Brab 3
Ferrari 2
Eagle 0
Lotus 0

We had to finish this topic before the first race of the year. We hadn't the time to think up something complicated which is a good thing

this is the best solution because in high speed corners (200kmh) the ferrari is excellent and u win a lot of time compared to the brabham, also it is very easy to drive.

doesnt matter what i say, but from my experience i can tell you this is a fair solution, except to the lotus/eagle comparison because the lotus now even beats the eagle in monza;
maybe lotus shall be -0.5 to never give the winner the cahnce of 100 points

BRM 6
Honda 5
Cooper 5
Brab 4

Eagle 1
Lotus 0
